Former player Andrea Petkovic spoke about Stefanos Tsitsipas recently, explaining why he needs a change to start improving again.
Stefanos Tsitsipas isn't really slumping because he just won a trophy in Los Cabos, however, he's not progressing as many thought he would. The biggest trophy he ever won was the ATP Finals years ago, and we haven't seen any big trophies since then. Yes, he played Grand Slam finals, one actually this year, but he's yet to get over the hump.
It's something many expected him to do already in his career, however, there is a visible lack of progress. He's been overtaken by other players in the pecking order. Speaking about his career to the Tennis Channel former player Andrea Petkovic admitted that she wants to see a change.
I do feel (Stefanos) Tsitsipas needs a change. I don't know if in his coaching team or if he just has to give a little bit more power to Mark Philippoussis, who is now back in the team, I have heard. It's just he has stagnated over the last year in his game and I know that he wants to play well.
The former Australian player split with Tsitsipas briefly some months ago, but they reunited recently. Tsitsipas further confirmed that he would be taking on a greater role as his father's role will reduce a bit. It's been something that many called for, and now let's see whether they were right. Petkovic is a huge fan because she likes his game and thinks it can do wonders.
He really has one of the best forehands I have ever seen in my entire life. Not only the way he hits it, how he can generate can pace, spin, and rotation, but also how quickly he runs up to the ball when he does have a sure ball is really never been seen before.
