Nick Kyrgios and Stan Wawrinka previously had an incident after which they had to be separated. That was revealed by the Canadian Open tournament director.

Throughout their careers, Kyrgios and Wawrinka met six times on the tennis courts, with both players winning three matches. Two of the matches ended with retirement, and one of them is sometimes mentioned even to this day.

In Montreal in 2015, Kyrgios took on the then-third-seeded Wawrinka. The Swiss player won the opening set in a tie-break, but Kyrgios won the second set 6-3.

Down 0-4 in the third set of the match, Wawrinka was forced to retire, sending his opponent into the next round of the tournament. However, their match was overshadowed by one unsportsmanlike moment.

During the first game of the second set, Kyrgios told Wawrinka, "Kokkinakis ban**d your girlfriend, sorry to tell you that." Although many fans at the stadium heard it, and even some in front of the TV screens, the Swiss player was probably too focused on the match and didn't hear his opponent's remark.

However, Wawrinka was made aware of what his opponent said during his post-match press conference, and he obviously didn't like that.

Eugene Lapierre, who is the former tournament director of the Canadian Open, spoke to Journal de Quebec, according to TVA Sports, and he revealed that after the incident, the two of them had to be separated in the locker room.

"Wawrinka hadn't heard, but Kyrgios' comments were on TV because of the microphones on the pitch."
"In a press conference, a journalist informed him of what had been said. Wawrinka was furious! It's like he just lost face in front of everyone. He quickly went down to the locker room, where Kyrgios was still. They had to be separated, because it risked degenerating quickly."
