Throughout their careers, Nick Kyrgios and Stan Wawrinka met six times with both players winning three matches.

Two of the matches ended with a retirement and only one of them is still relevant until today as it featured a moment which later made Stan Wawrinka "furious" as revealed by Eugene Lapierre, former tournament director of the Canadian Masters, where their meeting took place in 2015.

In Montreal, Nick Kyrgios took on then third-seeded Stan Wawrinka and after the Swiss player retired in a third set, the Australian advanced to the next round.

However, during the first game of the second set Kyrgios told Wawrinka "Kokkinakis ban**d your girlfriend, sorry to tell you that." Something that Wawrinka hadn't heard, but when they were revealed to him later at the press conference, he reacted quickly.

"Wawrinka hadn't heard, but Kyrgios' comments were on TV because of the microphones on the pitch," Eugene Lapierre told Journal de Quebec, according to TVA Sports.

"In a press conference, a journalist informed him of what had been said. Wawrinka was furious! It's like he just lost face in front of everyone. He quickly went down to the locker room, where Kyrgios was still. They had to be separated, because it risked degenerating quickly," Lapierre added.
