Sebastian Korda had only nice things to say about his compatriot Ben Shelton after their match at the Shanghai Masters recently.
Sebastian Korda has been playing really good tennis lately, making a semi-final and final even before coming to Shanghai. It continued here as he's through to the semi-final after some smashing tennis this week that included a win over Ben Shelton recently.
It was a match where Korda had to come back to win because Shelton was on top after the first set. The match was a really good one with plenty of great moments and Shelton's sportsmanship display.
It just showed how much they respect each other as fellow Americans and tennis players. Korda returned the favour after the match, speaking kindly about Shelton.
He's [Shelton] an incredible player, he's electric, he's fun to watch. He's fun to play against, honestly. I had a lot of fun during the match today. Honestly, just shows also the type of person that he is. He's incredibly nice, always has a smile on his face, and just a really great guy all around.- Korda on Shelton as a player
Korda further expanded on their relationship, admitting that he's got to spend plenty of time with Shelton, having played doubles with him, something he plans to do in the future as well. He also revealed that they had a good joke about their epic 22-point tiebreak, which Shelton actually won 12-10.
It was definitely a really good moment. Ben's a really good guy. He's got a great family. We've started to know each other really well these past couple months. We have a great relationship together. We played doubles one time, and will definitely play again in the future. I think we just talked about the tie-break and we were just kind of laughing.- On their relatiosnhip
