Seyboth Wild Confronted Over Domestic Abuse Allegations After Roland Garros Win

Thiago Seyboth Wild's possible instances of domestic violence have surfaced after the Brazilian's first-round Roland Garros victory over Daniil Medvedev.

Seyboth Wild and Medvedev played out an epic five-set contest in the first-round clash and the Brazilian, ranked 172nd in the ATP standings, eventually edged his Russian competitor. However, while the win was meant to be a moment to savour for the 23-year-old, previous allegations of domestic and psychological violence from Seyboth Wild towards his ex-girlfriend came to the fore again.

Originally, news outlet UOL Esporte published an interview with Seyboth Wild's ex-girlfriend, Thayane Lima, in 2021 where she explained instances of physical and emotional abuse. After his win against Medvedev, Seyboth Wild was questioned by reporters over the incidents, but the 23-year-old explained that it was not the right time to discuss the situation.

"I don't think it's a subject we should talk about it right here. I don't think it's a question you should be making to anybody. I don't think it comes to you to decide whether it's a place to be spoken of or not."

Seyboth Wild told reporters at Roland Garros

"You can write whatever you want. By the way, I was never married. Okay? So just leave that out."

In the 2021 interview, Seyboth Wild's ex-girlfriend Lima detailed how the tennis player regularly lost his temper, tried to control her and almost broke her finger on one occasion.

Following the interview, Seyboth Wild was reportedly charged in June 2022 by the Public Ministry of Rio for domestic and psychological violence, although further developments are yet to have taken place regarding the legal issue.
