Holger Rune will retain the services of Boris Becker as his coach for the next season, with the pair coming to an agreement to extend their partnership.
Rune's mother, Aneke, who serves as his manager, revealed the announcement in writing to TV2 Sport, adding that both parties are satisfied to continue working together for the upcoming season.
In Becker, Aneke states that they've found a "good setup" that will enable Rune to develop as a player. The 20-year-old was grateful for the transformation he had undergone in just a few months taking guidance from the German great.
"We look forward to continuing the good work in the preseason and 2024 with our team, with whom we will also end the year. I am delighted that we have found a good setup where Holger is happy and can develop so that we can once again set goals and aim to win Grand Slams."
"It has been a difficult and educational year with many good experiences, but also disappointments, hardships, and new things to deal with. It is an experience that is necessary to be able to take the big trophies."
In a recent interview, Rune acknowledged the pivotal role played by the 55-year-old in salvaging his season after a run of one win in 11 matches between mid-July and mid-October.
But since firing Patrick Mourtagolou, who was accused of "ego clashes" with Rune's longtime coach Lars Christensen, and appointing Becker, there was a stark improvement in performances and results which enabled the Dane to qualify for the ATP Finals for the first time.
Even though Rune was eliminated from the group stage on his ATP Finals debut, he called the whole experience "positive" and was looking forward to extending his alliance with the former six-time Grand Slam singles champion.
The Dane is expected to take a few weeks of vacation before kicking off his preseason in Monte-Carlo. Rune is scheduled to appear at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in London next month for the Grand Final after earning a wild card into the event.
