Roger Federer retired from professional tennis only recently but he is already looking to return back to the tennis courts.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion hung his tennis racket on the wall in a museum, but he will soon need to use it again. After finishing his competitive career on the ATP Tour, the Swiss Maestro will want to entertain fans all around the world with various tennis exhibitions, most likely also with his good friend Rafael Nadal.
While he was in Tokyo for an event of one of his sponsors, Federer spoke about his future, as per the Italian publication Gazzetta, which could include exhibition events.
The former ATP World No. 1 player admitted that he wants to visit many places that he didn't get a chance to visit and also show fans in those places his tennis craft.
"I want to go and play in places I've never been and thank the fans who have supported me throughout my career, that's all I want. My intention is also to organize exhibitions but it is still too early, unfortunately."
While Federer certainly made many fans excited about possibly seeing him on the tennis courts again, he also explained why it wouldn't be possible in the near future. The former Swiss player still has health issues that don't allow him to compete.
"My knee is not yet in perfect condition, and I have to be patient. The doctors have advised me to be cautious and to wait a few months to see how the situation develops. and this goes not only for tennis but also for other sports that I would like to play, but I have to take it easy."
However, fans can certainly look forward to those exhibitions, as even Rafael Nadal recently said that he would want to have a joint exhibition tour with Federer.
