Rafael Nadal Visits Barcelona For Medical Check Up Ahead Of Tennis Comeback

Rafael Nadal recently had surgery in Barcelona and now, he was there for a couple of medical checkups.

Rafael Nadal generally spends most of his time back home in Mallorca. But the Spaniard usually seeks medical help from specialists in Barcelona, a city he's very familiar with and one with many notable medical specialists.

He's been away from the sport for months after injuring his hip at the 2023 Australian Open. He held out hope of returning by the time Roland Garros came around, but it didn't happen as the injury required surgical intervention.

The whole reason he pushed it back was the hope that he could recover without going under the knife. Ultimately, it didn't work, so Nadal underwent surgery right around when Roland Garros was played. He's been recovering since then, though not many details are known, even though he has provided updates.

Nadal was spotted in Barcelona recently for what many assume is a regular check-up. There is no information about how it went or what the purpose of it is but the footage of Nadal visiting the clinic was posted online and quickly circulated in tennis circles.

We don't know when the former ATP's world no. 1 will return, though Nadal named the Australian Open as the likely goal. Former player and current Spanish Davis Cup Captain David Ferrer let it slip that he wants Nadal to play in the Davis Cup final later this year, so perhaps we will see him on the courts later this year.

Even if he doesn't play, Nadal's presence would certainly help the Spanish team in their quest to win another Davis Cup as he could provide insight as a former event champion. The Finals will take place on Spanish soil, making it all the more likely. We'll see what happens in the coming months.
