A young Danish tennis player took the world of tennis by storm with his passionate tennis and electric display. Holger Rune might be less known than Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, but he will very likely follow their path.
The Dane has already proven himself to be one of the best players in the world, and that arrow is only trending upward, as his mother, Aneke, fondly observes. She's always there with him, sitting in the stands and traveling to every event.
It's been like that forever and will remain that way for a long time to come. Aneke talked to ATP's official website about her son and how she sees him from her point of view.
"You see him doing an effort in everything he does on court, which makes the match very exciting to watch. But also as a parent watching, it’s impressive to see that you can keep focussed, that you can make an effort in every stroke you do. You can think. You get proud when you watch this."
The young Dane is a very hard worker. Many have noted this, even colleagues such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, who described the Dane as 'obsessed with tennis.'
Both are former proteges of Patrick Mouratoglou, having trained under his academy. That hard work is something that he's always had because the desire to succeed burns strong within him.
"He’s not finding excuses and I think that’s also the way he was raised. He understands and he accepts that sometimes things are not going his way, but don’t try to find excuses."
