Carlos Alcaraz will try and defend an ATP 1000 trophy for the first time in his career in Miami and he had a pretty good warm-up in Indian Wells.

That warm-up concluded with him taking down Daniil Medvedev in the final snapping a 19-match winning streak of the Russian. Despite the circumstances, Alcaraz feels no pressure of having to defend the trophy because he's quite happy with the way last week went. He'll still give his all to get it done though, as a proper competitor.

I don’t feel the pressure too much. I know the things I have to do. I need to play relaxed and not mind if I lose or if I play well or not. My goal is always the same. To feel comfortable on court. To enjoy playing tennis and try to have great thoughts when playing. And that is why I am playing at a good level. I am enjoying every single second and playing relaxed. That is what I am thinking about on court.

It's been a really strong year for him with a 14-1 record overall despite missing a large chunk of the season including the Australian Open. He's satisfied with it but still knows that there is plenty to get better at. It's sort of like an obsession for him, the desire to get better. He calls it a need.

I always say that you can improve everything a little bit more. You have to improve, you have to get better every day. That is why the big players, the ‘Big Three’ for example, did throughout their careers, improving a bit every day.

He's excited to be back in Miami because he had a wonderful time here last year and plenty of supporters. He can't wait to get back out there on the court and play some more tennis.
