Nick Kyrgios is one of the most prominent faces in Australian sports, as he was confirmed as the second most famous athlete in the country.
Kyrgios is pretty well known in tennis circles around the world and even in mainstream media, thanks to his rather prominent media footprint over the course of his career. Plenty of scandals and shocking moves on the court certainly aid in that, even though he dislikes that image of himself.
The Australian certainly never shied from being authentic which is one way to create a dedicated following among fans though as a tennis-loving nation, Australia is always prone to being more familiar with a tennis player compared to some other sports.
He's not the only tennis player on the list as Ashleigh Barty is number eight. Kyrgios himself is number two only behind Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo who has a decent lead over Kyrgios in the metrics used to determine who the most famous athletes are.
Kyrgios himself has a rather large social media following and remains an active user of the various platforms he's on. He's also rather often in the public eye due to a general interest from the media in his off-court life. He also does a few podcasts here and there and is present online through gaming and other stuff.
All of that helps him being one of the most prominent faces in Australian sports but most of his notoriety still boils down to his scandals over the years. It's just what always sold and always will but Kyrgios made an effort to change the narrative about him in recent years.
A very good platform to do that was the Break Point Netflix series which showed Kyrgios to a wider audience as the cameras were present for the best run of his career at Wimbledon. He still gets hated on though.
