Murray Admits He 'Learned A Lot' From Watching Epic Alcaraz vs Djokovic Wimbledon Final

Andy Murray watched the epic final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz at the 2023 Wimbledon, and he actually learned some things from it.

Murray was present in the stands for the Wimbledon final, and while that sight didn't look strange at all, he actually didn't intend to watch the final initially. He was at Wimbledon to do something but then opted to stay and watch the match as it was pretty close to its start.

The final itself didn't need to be hyped up because it was world number on the ATP Tour Carlos Alcaraz against arguably the greatest player of all time Novak Djokovic. The match was a spectacular one, and Murray gladly explained how it looked from his point of view as he spoke ahead of the 2023 Citi Open.

I wasn't planning on going to watch the match. I had to do something, and at Wimbledon that day, and then after I finished it was about an hour and a half before the start of the match, and I was, like, I feel like I should stay for this one.

I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot from watching, and I think, yeah, probably something like looking back, wish I had maybe done a little bit more of. It's not always that easy to do and sit in the stands and watch matches, because, well, most of the people in there are tennis fans and it can be distracting. The end of the match, last couple of sets, I thought some of the tennis was brilliant. It was really hard conditions that day.

Murray's use of words obviously created a lot of interest from the reporters, who quickly followed up by asking him what he learned from the match. Being able to watch them gave him a chance to observe more analytically compared to when you're on the court.

I ended up like taking videos and stuff of the guys and just focusing a little bit more on one side of the net. You know, looking at their like return positions and, you know, their movement, you know, between shots. Also, the times when particularly Alcaraz looking to play, you know, aggressive and offensive tennis and how he was going about doing that.
