'Miracle': 'Phenomenal Person' Alcaraz Showered With Praise By Djokovic's Coach

Carlos Alcaraz left everyone in Serbia stunned with his Wimbledon performance, but one Croatian shared the sentiment.

The Croatian was former player Goran Ivanisevic who has served as Djokovic's coach for quite a while now, replacing long-time coach Marian Vajda. The Slovakian admitted in interviews after splitting with Djokovic that the Serbian wanted to continue with Ivanisevic, which is why that partnership is still standing.

Ivanisevic has been a crucial part of Djokovic's team, both tactically and motivationally with the duo doing some great things. They recently toppled Alcaraz in Paris though the Spaniard's inexperience proved quite crucial in that victory.

The opposite happened in the Wimbledon final which Alcaraz ultimately won. It's a stunning result that will take a lot of people to digest properly. Alcaraz himself still finds it hard to believe and Ivanisevic admitted himself that he's not fully processed it yet. Despite that, the Croatian had only good things to say about Alcaraz.

I keep repeating the same thing, he is a great creature. As a person he is phenomenal, and as a player I won't even talk, it's a miracle. The energy he brings to the court, the way he plays... He's always smiling, even when he loses, it's amazing.

The next meeting between the two could likely happen at the US Open. The trophy in Flushing Meadows has eluded Djokovic for five years now, and it's something he's looking to change. It nearly happened in 2021 when Daniil Medvedev denied him the Calendar Slam.

This year will be the first time Djokovic is back in New York since 2021, and Alcaraz is the biggest hurdle. He's the defending champion, and Ivanisevic will be plotting with Djokovic how to take him down. After all, in his own words, only Djokovic and Sinner can do it.
