Kyrgios 'Not Sad' About Losing To 'Greatest Player Of All Time' Djokovic At Wimbledon

Nick Kyrgios made it to the Wimbledon final last year and while he did lose, he's okay with losing to Novak Djokovic.

Nick Kyrgios had some really good results and while his most memorable one, last year's Wimbledon, didn't end up with the trophy, it's still something that he'll never forget. The Australian demonstrated his talent on grass many years ago but it took him a while to finally find his best tennis.

There was a lot there, depression, battling some demons, and just a lack of commitment. He cleaned up for last year and immediately made a tremendous impact on the tennis court and the ATP Tour. The Wimbledon memory is his fondest one though as he revealed to ATPTour.com.

It was amazing. The fact that it's only been a year. It's been crazy. Everything off the court and all the attention obviously… It is a tournament where I think every tennis player wants to do well. People that don't play tennis know about Wimbledon.

For Kyrgios, it was a gratifying moment because for much of his career people really doubted whether he could do something like that. There was always that talent but talent is only one part of it.

I think it's the fact that you've done all the work over your life to actually post the result of that tournament, that's going to be remembered for the rest of your life. It’s a pretty special feeling. I think every tennis player, at the end of day, works so hard to have one of those results at a Grand Slam.

Kyrgios will be a huge threat at this year's Wimbledon and let's see if he can follow up last year with another run this year. He's confident and that's half the battle won.

I was one short but I'm not sad about saying I lost to the greatest player of all time and gave him a real match. It’s going to be good walking there for the first time [this year] and there's going be a lot of media attention around it as well. So let’s see how it goes.
