He's trailing the Russian by quite a bit, almost 3,000 points, and he'll only barely be ahead of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Holger Rune, and Andrey Rublev, but he'll be ahead.
If he can win the trophy in Beijing, it would only make the whole experience even more competitive because, in the end, he's after the trophies, and he lost a final to Medvedev earlier this year, so revenge is on the table.
