Chris Evert believes Carlos Alcaraz is capable of winning the 2023 Roland Garros but it will depend on whether he stays healthy.

It's a very straightforward sentiment that many have expressed over the court of the past few weeks however there is more to it when broken down. Evert is fully aware of the talent and skill Alcaraz possesses and that's never going to be a question. His health, however, will be a question because history has proven him to struggle with it at times.

Leading up to Roland Garros, Alcaraz will have played several ATP events on clay (Barcelona, Madrid, Rome) so it will be interesting to see whether his body can endure two more weeks of hard tennis. His body has struggled to keep up with the high demand of playing a lot in consecutive weeks. That will be the case with Paris and health is something that Evert emphasized when talking to Puntodebreak.

Alcaraz is ready for this title. He has to stay healthy, though, because he's playing a lot. Everyone jumps on his bandwagon when you talk about Carlos because he is phenomenal. I feel like we've never seen a player so versatile, with so much passion and hunger for so long.

When it comes to the tennis side of things then it's pretty clear that Alcaraz has everything that he needs to triumph in Paris. He has the talent, skill, confidence, experience, pretty much all that you need to become a grand slam champion and he did it before which is a huge boost too. Evert sees it that way too.

He has it all: he has the athleticism, he has a full arsenal of skills, he knows how to defend, he knows how to attack, he knows how to move. It's crazy, he has no weaknesses. For me, I think the title will be his if he can stay healthy and hungry. Rafa (Nadal) vs Carlos would be an incredible match.
