Chris Evert hopes for a fully healthy Roland Garros lineup though doubts that Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will be at their best at the event.
Neither Djokovic nor Nadal took part in the Madrid Open due to the Serb pulling out before the event and Nadal being unable to play due to injuries. Djokovic will return in Rome and that will be a chance to see his play ahead of Roland Garros.
We'll have to wait for Paris for Nadal and although he is expected to play, nobody really knows whether he truly will. It's pretty clear that neither will be at their best when the event begins and Evert worries how that will impact their chances as she revealed to Puntodebreak.
I hope everyone is healthy, it seems like there are a lot of players injured lately. Novak and Rafa are the greatest ever, they have been the best clay court players for the last few years and as they get older they get injured a bit more. We don't know what their status is going to be, I hope they both reach 100% but we don't know.
If they both end up playing they will have to slowly play themselves into shape at the event. It's not impossible because both have been able to do that in the past. Evert certainly doesn't doubt them but she does worry whether they will able to do that once more. The experience is something that's very useful in such a situation.
You just can't underestimate Rafa. I haven't seen a good form on clay from both of them in recent weeks, maybe their preparation is not ideal, but when it comes to Novak and Rafa, they are the guys with the most experience and who know how to deal better than anyone with emotions throughout a Grand Slam.
