Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev contested the China Open final a few days ago, and Carlos Alcaraz hopes to challenge both at the 2023 Shanghai Masters.
One of the defining features of top players is the tremendous competitive spirit that all of them have. Alcaraz certainly is a top player and he certainly is deeply competitive which is why he always wants to face the best players on the ATP Tour.
The best players right now competing in Asia, besides him, are Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev. They contested the China Open final a few days ago and looked like good bets to go deep in Shanghai. Alcaraz would like to face them both, which he said after being asked who he'd rather face at this event.

He can't face both because Sinner and Medvedev are on the same side of the draw, as they're more likely to face each other. He might face them later this year, though, as all three will play at the ATP Finals in Turin, which should be interesting.
Regarding the Shanghai Masters, Alcaraz mostly thinks about his next match and what might happen in the later rounds.
I have to win my matches, and they as well. But both are players that probably, you know, it's scary to face them, you know, on court, but I like that kind of challenge.
He doesn't currently know whom he'll face in the next round as he's waiting to see who wins in the match between Mikhail Kukushkin and Daniel Evans. That match will be played on Sunday so Alcaraz's next match will happen on Monday.
