Recently retired Canadian Open director Eugene Lapierre spoke about Djokovic in a recent interview explaining how he is behind the scenes.

Novak Djokovic, who played frequently in Montreal throughout the years, was one of the great tennis players Lapierre had numerous opportunities to meet with. Lapierre just left his post as director, but he talked about his meetings with Djokovic during his 21-year-long tenure as director.

"The nickname 'Djoker' which Serbian Novak Djokovic inherited very early in his career suits him perfectly. He always wants to please the public in different ways. He dances with the ball hunters on the field" explained Lapierre recalling their interaction behind the scenes.

He also recalled one instance when Djokovic ask for Segway:

"At one point he asked me if we could get him a Segway (a small two-wheeled vehicle), so he could get around the site. We couldn't find any, and anyway, his agent said, "Never!" He is very nice to everyone. He is a teaser, who always wants to make people laugh.
