Felix Auger-Aliassime Withdraws From 2023 Halle Open

The 2023 Halle Open won't see Felix Auger-Aliassime take part as the Canadian withdrew from the event a day before it was set to begin.

The 2023 edition of Halle will be the 30th edition of a very popular event with a stellar cast of players taking part. We won't see Felix Auger-Aliassime though as the Canadian continues to battle injuries that have kept him away from a lot of tennis this year.

The last match Auger-Aliassime played was at the French Open with this being his second consecutive withdrawal after the Libema Open last week. It's clear that he needs a bit more time to be fit and he doesn't want to risk Wimbledon because of it.

It's a pity for the event and the player as he has some good memories here. He defeated Roger Federer in Halle once which is a treasured memory of his. Not being able to play at the 30th edition is disappointing as well.

I am very sorry that I cannot play in Halle, especially in this special anniversary year for the tournament.

The hope for Auger-Aliassime is that he'll be ready for Wimbledon because he played well there over the years. This year saw him only play 23 matches so far which is not a lot. He can do much better and after taking a step forward last year, this type of year is the last thing he wanted to experience.

While the on-court stuff was shaky, Auger-Aliassime has been making moves off the court with the unveiling of his personal logo. He's followed fellow players like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Daniil Medvedev, Andy Murray, and others in building a brand for himself which can be very lucrative for a tennis player.

He'll need to back it up with good tennis on the court but we've seen him do that. When fully healthy he's one of the best without question.
