Emma Raducanu recently revealed what she talked about with His Majesty King Charles when she received her MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) last year.

Emma Raducanu became the first British woman to win a grand slam in a very long time when she triumphed at the 2021 US Open. The achievement propelled her into stardom around the world including in her own native United Kingdom.

Because of that, Raducanu was awarded an MBE for services to tennis. She received the honour on November 22nd from His Majesty King Charles who actually asked her something about her tennis career. She revealed it in a recent exclusive interview with The Sunday Times.

He asked me, 'So have you found a coach?' I was like, 'That's good banter!' It was so funny, I was laughing because everyone was ripping me for not having a coach. I was like, 'The fact you know this, I feel honoured.

The occasion was an interesting experience for Raducanu who actually changed over at Windsor Castle. There is a formal dress code for such occasions but Raducanu was in no mood to sit in her dress during the ride there so she just went in a tracksuit changing later.

I didn't want to sit in the dress while driving so I went in my tracksuit, and when we got to Windsor I went into the changing room in Zara and walked out in a Dior gown at 9 am.

In the same interview, Raducanu was also asked about her frequent coaching changes. Her latest one happened relatively recently with the German coach explaining why the split happened. While many questioned why she changed so many coaches, Raducanu confirmed what has been known before. Not all of the changes happened because she wanted.

A lot of the time it wasn’t even me.
