Tsitsipas has had a really strong tennis career so far establishing himself as a very good player a few years ago. The Greek player recently celebrated 200 weeks in the Top 10 on the ATP Tour, which is quite notable for a player that is still only 24 years old.
Yes, he's missing big trophies having played in two Grand Slam finals but the Greek has a lot of time to finally reach his dream though he's not obsessing over it. For the time being, it will be Apostolos Tsitispas who will lead him as the 24-year-old professed his full trust in his father in a recent interview. He's been his primary coach since he was 12 years old.
He is everything to me. He left his job for me when I was twelve. He has evolved day by day, learning as much as possible - whether online, through books or other means. He is down to earth and aware that he is not perfect - like me. That brings me closer to him.
There have been discussions about his coaching situation with some suggesting that he should try something new. Not only did he not do that, he got rid of Mark Philipoussis the same way he parted ways with Patrick Mouratoglou in the past. The reason is rather simple. Tsitsipas has full belief in his father as a coach even though many don't share his enthusiasm.
And he's not just any coach. He has the knowledge and has worked with professionals before me. He knows what he is doing. He belongs by my side.
Time will tell what will happen in the future but the same problems persist. He's winning a lot of matches like every year but trophies are missing. He's being overtaken in that regard by both players of his generation and the younger ones coming up.
