Tsitsipas Urged To Consider His Coaching Situation After Roland Garros Exit

Former player and coach of Serena Williams, Rennae Stubbs echoed the sentiments of many by calling on Stefanos Tsitsipas to consider his coaching situation.

Stefanos Tsitsipas established himself as a very good tennis player a few years ago by earning some impressive wins. The Greek player has solidified himself as a top-10 player on the ATP Tour for a while now but taking the next step seems to be an issue.

It's become so much so an issue that many wonder whether he actually regressed in recent years amid struggles to win a big title. There isn't a lack of trying as the Greek player tried multiple things including the hiring of additional coaches such as Mouratoglou and Philippoussis. He hasn't worked with Mouratoglou in a while and the latter was also let go recently.

The coaching situation with Tsitsipas has been a talking point for a while. Many have talked about the need for him to try something else instead of his father as his coach because it hasn't been working for a while now. Public arguments like the one he had with his mother in Rome don't help the image either but mostly it's his tennis being stuck for over 3 years now.

Some of his bizarre comments like the one he had after the loss to Alcaraz also add to the whole perception that something is wrong. It was the quote that Alcaraz didn't play anything special that prompted Stubbs to chime in with her own thoughts. She, like many before, suggested a coaching change.

Maybe he should consider his coaching situation.

Fellow tennis analyst Tim Henman called the loss embarrassing because it really wasn't close and the melatonin pills that he blamed the loss on had very little to do with it. He was beaten by a better player with a better plan. It's unlikely though that he will ever replace his father as the coach because he dismissed questions about that in the past.
