Stefanos Tsitsipas marks 200th week inside top 10

Stefanos Tsitsipas isn't a grand slam champion yet but the Greek has been very consistent since breaking out a few years ago.

Consistency is the key for Tsitsipas as he generally is one of the more consistent players. There aren't many highs and lows with him but it's just a steady stream of good performances that keep his ranking stable. He's always among the winningest players on the Tour and this week he began his 200th week inside the top 10 rankings.

He entered the top 10 for the first time in 2019, March 3rd 2019 after making a deep run in Dubai reaching the final of that event. He lost that final on March 2nd to Roger Federer but made his top 10 debut the following day. He never left the top 10 after entering it with today beginning his 200th week in the top 10.

Consistency has always been at the top of my priorities as a player, and it has been difficult to find that kind of secret recipe where you get all the consistency and you can play consistently week by week. But I think it’s something you build up with confidence, with experience, and eventually you just find the pattern. You find the way it works for you.

Tsitsipas on consistency

The milestone comes just one day after he started his Roland Garros campaign by beating Jiri Vesely in the first round. After the match, Tsitsipas talked about some things including Medvedev dancing on him recently. Both of them are two really great tennis players but Tsitsipas has an edge on Medvedev when it comes to consistency.

The Russian dropped out of the top 10 earlier this year while Tsitsipas never did. The Greek actually entered the top 7 not too long after he made his top 10 debut in 2019. He never left the top 7 since then either which is quite impressive. He's yet to win a grand slam failing twice to Djokovic in a final but consistency is something he is very good at.
