Postergate is a thing at this year's Wimbledon as Andy Murray commented on the infamous Wimbledon poster that didn't feature him.
This year's Wimbledon had a really brilliant idea of hyping up fans before the event even began. A bulletproof plan that was going to make this Wimbledon even better. Right? Wrong, because the execution was very poor.
Andy Murray was famously left off the poster which his uncle criticised publicly. He now shared his thoughts joking that it was a disaster before giving his honest assessment. The Brit was unhappy with the fact that so many good players, including women, were left in the background, and he found it really strange.
It's a disaster. I don't think the problem with the poster was me not being on it. Yeah, in part it is having so many men in front of the women. But what was what was slightly strange is the players that are obviously on the poster are ones that have obviously had incredible careers and have been unbelievably successful at Wimbledon. Some of the greatest players of all time.
For me, Alcaraz and Sinner are unbelievable players. It just seems strange that those others were all sort of behind them. When you look at it, so you know that does look a bit strange. But I really don't care that much about really.
Murray's uncle wasn't the only one that questioned the lack of Murray on the poster. Brother Jamie also famously took to social media to ask about Andy though that poster was hardly the only faux pas the event had.
Another poster didn't feature Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina, the reigning Wimbledon champions. As expected it earned a lot of criticism after which they were added. In short, the whole PR campaign was an utter mess.
