Daniil Medvedev revealed that he won't be following the final match of the men's singles at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
Only recently, Carlos Alcaraz admitted that he's following almost all the scores, but it's not something many players do. Even Medvedev, who has the habit of doing that, won't do that with this year's Wimbledon final. He came very close to playing in it himself, but he couldn't overcome the Alcaraz challenge once more.
It's the second time this year that Medvedev was beaten by Alcaraz in a big match, and it's left him very disappointed. That is part of the reason why he ultimately won't watch the match as it would sting a bit too much. He would be sitting there overanalyzing, and there are no benefits to that.
: It's a very great match. I'm not going to lie, it's a very great match to watch, but I'm not going to watch it because I'm going to be too disappointed to not be there. I lost. I don't deserve to be there in the final because I didn't win today.
But if I watch it on TV, I'm probably going to digest my loss worse because I'm going to be like, My God, this forehand, this double-fault, this return, I should have done better. Let's say Novak wins, I should have done like Novak. Why didn't I do it? Too many questions.
Even so, like many of us, Medvedev is interested to see which player will come out on top and win the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. He admitted that he'd likely follow the live score of the match but won't actually watch it.
I am going to follow live score probably. I'm going to be interested in the live score, but I'm not going to watch it. Maybe we'll see the highlights or something in the news or something like this.
