Ben Shelton can't stop winning at the 2023 Japan Open in Tokyo, and thanks to his efforts, the American has now secured a new career-high ranking.

Ben Shelton broke into the Top 100 with a tremendous run at the end of last year. He won several ATP Challengers in his native United States to finish the year on a high note and dazzled the world at the Australian Open with his impressive level.

It was pretty evident after that event that Shelton was only going to get better with time, and it's proven correct. He's been really amazing for the past month and more, making the US Open semi-final, which secured him a Top 20 breakout.

He followed that up with a great run in Shanghai and is now staring at a possible final at the Japan Open. He's in the semi-final of the event after beating Tommy Paul in the quarter-final, hoping to go to the final, but even with this run, the American ensured a new career-high ranking.

According to projections, the teenager will be world number 17 in a couple of days, which is his highest rank ever. There is a chance that get to number 16 if he wins the event, which again is a new career high.

Whether it ends up being number 16 or 17 doesn't really matter, it just makes it more likely that he'll finish the year in the Top 20. That's pretty amazing for the youngster who will hope to keep this good momentum going next year and possibly end up in the Top 10.

It won't be easy, though, as he'll have to defend a significant amount of points for the first time in his career. Still, expect Shelton to do really well because he's just that type of talent, and he's a hard worker. That's a great combination of traits.
