Coco Gauff has donated the match-winning outfit from this year's US Open final to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Gauff's entire apparel including her personalized New Balance CG1 “City Brights” colorway shoes are now available for display until the end of the year in the International Tennis Hall of Fame museum in Newport, Rhode Island.
Gauff had a fantastic US summer swing. Her red-colored kit made its debut in Washington, where she won the biggest title of her career at the Citi Open. A few weeks later, she would be hoisting another big title in Cincinnati, her first at WTA 1000 level.
But not many people foresaw the 19-year-old getting her breakthrough Slam at the US Open. And when the draw came out, the prospect of meeting defending champion Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals appeared to be Gauff's projected roadblock.
"Some noteworthy additions @CocoGauff's iconic @newbalance shoes and outfit from her @usopen win are now in Newport! The gear is on display at the International Hall of Fame for fans to view in the museum through the end of the year."
But Swiatek never made it to that quarterfinal meeting, and Gauff would demolish her conqueror Jelena Ostapenko 6-0, 6-2. At that stage, pre-tournament predictions had been wiped off. Gauff would complete the Cinderella run by winning the title in front of a jam-packed crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium just a few days later.
A straight sets win over World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the final put the icing on the cake as Gauff became the youngest American to win the New York Slam since Serena Williams over two decades ago. She would also rise to a career-high ranking of No. 3.
Gauff has one more tournament to play and win, and that is the prestigious WTA Finals. She forged a 16-match winning streak that ended at the China Open after she succumbed to a shoulder injury in her straight-sets defeat to Swiatek in the semifinal.
