Current World No. 9 player on the ATP Tour, Alexander Zverev, was fined 450,000€ after the latest development in his assault case.

The German player's ex-partner and mother of his daughter, Brenda Patea, accused Zverev of an assault earlier this year. The former World No. 2 player was quick to reject those allegations.

However, the case was taken to the court, and a few months later after rejecting any of the allegations made against him, the 2020 US Open finalist might be facing consequences.

According to the reports, a violent argument, which should have taken place in Berlin, Germany, in May 2020, should be the reason for this legal case. During the argument, Zverev should have physically injured Brenda Patea.

According to the German publication Bild, the court imposed a fine on Zverev on October 2nd, 2023. The fine should consist of 90 payments, which come at 5,000€ each. That means that the total fine would amount to 450,000€.

That might turn to be a lucky amount for the 2021 Olympic gold medalist, as only fines that exceed exactly 450,000€ are enough to warrant a criminal record, which he might avoid as a result.

As per the report from Bild, the statement from the court reads:

"The defendant is accused of physically abusing a woman and damaging her health as part of an argument in Berlin in May 2020."

However, Zverev challenged this ruling with an appeal. Zverev's defense team, led by Prof. Dr. Alfred Dierlamm and Katharina Dierlamm, has commented on the case, which they were less than happy about. In a press release provided by Bild, they called the process 'scandalous.'

"The procedure is scandalous, there can be no question of a fair, constitutional procedure. Mr. Zverev will take every possible action against this. Mr Zverev rejects the accusation made against him."

"The allegations made by the complainant alone on which the penalty order is based have already been confirmed by a forensic medical report from the recognized Berlin forensic doctor Prof. Dr. Tsokos, Charité Berlin, refuted."

Despite a lot going on in his private life, Zverev is focusing on the 2023 Paris Masters, where he started with a win.
