Alexander Zverev was reportedly fined 450,000€ following a criminal order filed by the Berlin public prosecutor's office.

Earlier this year, Brenda Patea, Zverev's former partner and mother of his daughter, accused the German player of an assault. However, Zverev was quick to reject those allegations, and now a few months later, he' facing consequences.

At the heart of the allegations is a reportedly violent argument that took place in Berlin in May 2020, during which the former world no. 2 on the ATP Tour is accused of physically injuring Brenda Patea.

The district court's statement was unequivocal, asserting that Zverev is "accused of physically abusing a woman and damaging her health." According to the German publication Bild, the court writes:

"The defendant is accused of physically abusing a woman and damaging her health as part of an argument in Berlin in May 2020."

However, Zverev is not taking these accusations lying down. The Olympic champion has lodged an objection, propelling the case towards a potential trial. The responsible department of the district court will reconvene to hear the accounts of those involved in the proceedings once again.

Zverev's defense team, led by Prof. Dr. Alfred Dierlamm and Katharina Dierlamm, has voiced their displeasure with the proceedings. In a press release provided by Bild, they decried the process as "scandalous," vehemently asserting that there can be "no question of a fair, constitutional procedure."

"The procedure is scandalous, there can be no question of a fair, constitutional procedure. Mr. Zverev will take every possible action against this. Mr Zverev rejects the accusation made against him."

"The allegations made by the complainant alone on which the penalty order is based have already been confirmed by a forensic medical report from the recognized Berlin forensic doctor Prof. Dr. Tsokos, Charité Berlin, refuted."

Despite a lot going on in his private life, Zverev is focusing on the 2023 Paris Masters, where he started with a win.
