Alcaraz 'Coming To Shanghai With A Lot Of Confidence' Despite Surprising Beijing Loss

Carlos Alcaraz might not have had the best conclusion to his 2023 China Open campaign, but he's coming to the 2023 Shanghai Masters with a lot of confidence.

Considering how the events in China have played over the years, Alcaraz was always a very good fit. His aggressive tennis and hitting can do a lot of damage to most players and that's what we have been seeing from the Spaniard in the past week in Beijing.

The Spaniard wasn't able to conclude his run in Beijing with a trophy, getting beaten by Jannik Sinner, but he was quite happy about his level displayed and is coming to Shanghai with a lot of confidence.

Well, I really enjoy playing here in Beijing. I think my level was really, really high. I felt really comfortable. Whether if it is my first trip here to China, I feel like I've been playing here for many years. The fans were great, as well. I really felt really comfortable on this court. It was a great tournament for me.

I'm coming to Shanghai with a lot of confidence, even if I lost today. But it doesn't matter for me, I just focus on be better, a better player, and focus on do the things that I didn't won today, and try to win the tournament. That's my goal to Shanghai. Hopefully to play the same level that I did in this tournament, hopefully to have good result over there.

The conditions in Shanghai are even better for Alcaraz than in Beijing, and seeing him play even better wouldn't be a surprise. He'll certainly want to do better after missing out on the trophy in Beijing, especially since Shanghai is an ATP 1000 event.

Being in pursuit of Djokovic for the number one rank is another added motivation since these are technically new points.
