Every time Carlos Alcaraz loses to Novak Djokovic, he learns something new, and that's the need to be even better to beat him.
Alcaraz bested Djokovic in a very important match for both at the Wimbledon Championships, and it was certainly a painful loss for Djokovic. He brought quite a bit of fire to all the matches they played since then, beating him in all of them.
The Cincinnati Masters was a brutal affair for both, with the ATP Finals victory coming much easier. Neither match was easy, and Alcaraz certainly learned a few things that he'll use in his pursuit to finally unseat Djokovic from the throne.
Well, this match help me a lot coming into the pre-season. Right now I know all the things I have to improve if I want to be there, if I want to beat the best player in the world. With Juan Carlos, we have to talk about the pre-season, what we have to practice, what we have to do. Obviously I'll rewatch the match to see my weakness, just to improve it and be a better player.
The matchup against Djokovic is a fascinating one because, on paper, it seems like one that Alcaraz has been pretty good at. He's nearly beaten Djokovic in all their matches, which makes this one by far the worst he's ever played.
It reflected in the way he spoke about it, admitting that he was going to toss out all the others and focus simply on this one.
I will forget all the matches that I played against him, the Wimbledon final, the Cincinnati, Roland Garros, and I'm going to focus on this match because I felt like I have to improve a lot of things if I want to stay at his level. That's what I going to think in the pre-season.
