Alcaraz Asks for an End to Constant Comparisons with Nadal

| by Zachary Wimer

As Carlos Alcaraz continues to dominate the tennis world, the young Spaniard has expressed his dislike for the constant comparisons to fellow countryman and tennis legend Rafael Nadal.

Alcaraz, who recently secured his third ATP Masters 1000 title by winning the 2023 Indian Wells, has experienced immense success in recent years, often drawing comparisons to Nadal's achievements.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion is one of the most successful tennis players ever, and certainly the most successful Spanish tennis player ever, so comparisons like that may clearly impact the teenage prodigy.

The 19-year-old has made it clear that he would prefer to be recognized for his individual talent and accomplishments rather than constantly being compared to his compatriot.

In a recent rapid-fire Q&A session, Alcaraz was asked about the one question that often annoys him. Although he stated that the comparisons were not annoying, out of politeness, he expressed his desire for the questions to stop.

The World No. 1 wishes to be seen as an individual talent and player rather than constantly being compared to tennis legend Rafael Nadal, and being named "the next" someone.

As a part of the questions and answers session, the young Spaniard was also asked about a player that he would like to get stuck in an elevator with.

His response wasn't surprising and probably it wouldn't be different from many other players, as he named the 20-time major winner, Roger Federer as the person. On top of that, Alcaraz added that he would have a lot of questions to ask the Swiss Maestro, as he's arguably one of, if not the most talented tennis player ever.

"Roger Federer. A lot of things to ask."
