Without 'Weight On Her Shoulders' Raducanu Feels Ready To Tackle 2024

Emma Raducanu is making a comeback at the 2024 ASB Classic in Auckland, and in her own words, she feels really fresh.

Raducanu's return to the WTA Tour is a huge thing because very few players have captivated the general public's interest as much as he has with her US Open triumph. That happened two years ago, and for much of that period, Raducanu felt as if she had weights on her shoulders.

Some might argue that it was too much too soon, which makes sense because it literally happened over a fortnight.

This year proved to be a much-needed break for Raducanu as she spent a lot of time away from the courts due to injuries. Now, before her comeback at the ASB Classic in Auckland, Raducanu is excited for a fresh start.

Yeah, I feel reborn in a way. I feel fresh, I feel ready, I feel happy, I feel excited. So overall, I'm feeling very positive and lighter. I think that for two years after the US Open, I felt maybe a bit more like weight on my shoulders, but now I feel completely fresh.

The injuries seemed like the worst possible thing to happen to her, but could actually be a blessing in disguise. It allowed her to get fully healthy, do a proper mental reset, and just fall in love with the sport again.

Enduring all of that was tough and not nice but it's certainly something that builds strength of character.

It's nice not to have three casts on you, so you know, just moving around and showering, everything, you really appreciate just like being able to do your own hair, stuff like that. So yeah, I'm just happy to be back playing.

We'll see how things go for her, but one thing is clear and that's the fact that her draw at the tournament will be challenging.
