Iga Swiatek has been widely described as the most consistent player on the WTA Tour, and Elena Rybakina agrees with that.
The Polish player spent more than a year as the world number-one player in the world, and if you know anything about rankings it's mostly about consistency.
You need to be good all the time to remain on top and Swiatek has been able to do for a very long time. She lost the number one rank this year, partly because she just wasn't as consistent as last year.
Even so, one of her main rivals, Elena Rybakina, considers her one of the most consistent players on the WTA Tour, and she talked about it to the Tennis Channel.
The Kazakhstani player would know as she bested her a couple of times this year, so she knows how tough it is to deal with the Polish prodigy regularly.
She’s a really tough opponent. I know every point is going to be difficult because she’s fighting & running a lot. She’s so consistent throughout the year. Last year & even now I think it was great results. Just a tough opponent.
There aren't many players who are able to disrupt the consistency of Swiatek as well as the Kazakhstani player is able to, and it's something she hopes persists for a very long time.
We will see many battles between them in the future because both are here to stay and are part of the 'WTA Big Three' consisting of Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Rybakina.
Neither is a fan of that description, but until the recent emergence of Coco Gauff, it really looked like that. It looked like Rybakina, Sabalenka, and Swiatek would dominate the WTA for many years to come.
They might, but they'll need to be as consistent as Swiatek has been so far in her career to get it done.
