Iga Swiatek addressed concern about her relationship with her psychologist, who was under fire earlier this year.
The relationship between Daria Abramowicz and Swiatek was under the microscope after an episode of Break Point showed a weird interaction between the two. It came off as if the psychologist was being kind of controlling, which a lot of people didn't really like.
It created a lot of controversy back then, which was addressed and explained by 'cutting'. The scene was cut in a way to create controversy, while in reality, there wasn't anything spectacular there.
It wouldn't be the only time as another thing created controversy. Well, the player spoke about it now, claiming that the criticism was unfounded.
These people know nothing about me or my life. They don't know how I function and what I struggle with. Our conversations never went beyond ‘hello'.Honestly, sometimes I don't know what purpose such opinions serve, except that they give sensational media headlines and publicity to whoever expresses them.
Swiatek has been working with Abramowicz for a while, and she likes it. The psychologist helped her greatly as a player, and you can't really argue against it. She's matured and is a killer on the court now, beating players mercilessly. At least some of that has to do with Abramowicz.
Our cooperation does not only concern controlling emotions on the court or implementing mental training, but also in everyday life. Communication is different than with a therapist you see once every two weeks.
Daria and I know each other well, but as a professional she wouldn't let it affect our work. I'm on tour almost all year round, so I spend time with each of my [members] not only on the court or in the gym. My team is a huge source of support.
