Simona Halep's billionaire ex-husband reacts to her provisional suspension

Simona Haleps's ex-husband, Toni Iuruc, reacted to his ex-wife's provisional suspension by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).
ITIA has suspended Halep from competing after she tested positive for a banned substance during this year's US Open. The Romanian player tested positive for roxadustat, and as a result, she was provisionally banned from competing.
Halep's positive test came at a time when she faced plenty of challenges in her life regardless. She went through a divorce only recently, and she also underwent nose surgery.
However, despite splitting from her ex-husband Iuruc, he defended his ex-wife after her positive test. Iuruc spoke to Fanatik and admitted that he was shocked to learn that the Romanian player had tested positive. According to him, Halep has always been obsessed with being fair.
"I'm shocked, I haven't recovered for an hour, I'm shocked and shocked again! I can not believe that. I've known Simona for three years, of which at least two in the circuit, and I swear to you that this girl, my ex-wife, is obsessed with one thing: honor! You can take anything from Simona, (but) if you (take) away her honor, her fairness, you kill her! She is no longer human!"

Iuruc insisted that he could have avoided commenting on the situation. The two recently went through a divorce, and there was no need for him to comment. However, he wanted to say something, as he knows how careful Halep has been with everything she's done.
"You know very well that I just finished the divorce, I could have said 'No comment.' There is no way I would do such a thing, when I know this woman so well, when I have been with her for so many years. Simona was obsessed with not making mistakes."
