Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff will play a huge match once again and the American is hoping to finally get a victory.
Yes, they've played quite a few of those already, but in most of those, Swiatek won easily. Gauff has many problems against the Pole, mostly because she can't hit as well as the Polish player. The world number one is one of the best hitters on the WTA Tour, and generally, the players that give her the most problems are equally good hitters.
Aryna Sabalenka beat her this year, and she's a great hitter. Elena Rybakina beat her in the past, and she's a great hitter too. Unfortunately, Coco Gauff isn't because her forehand isn't very good. It's been better recently, so if it holds up for the entire match at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters, there might be a chance.
Gauff has generally looked sturdier than Swiatek lately as the Polish player tends to miss a lot. It's not something we've seen often from her but she'll need to avoid it if she hopes to keep winning.
It's not 19-0, but it's pretty decent with 7-0. They played seven matches so far, and Swiatek won all of those. Most of them were easy beatdowns as Gauff has yet to win a set. It's a rather bleak picture, but there is room for optimism.
Nobody has ever beaten Gauff 8 times in a row, and if she plays a good match, there is a chance that it remains so. She has the tools to make Swiatek work in rallies, but she must stay consistent. She was unable to do it against Pegula recently, but there is no other way to win the match.
If she doesn't prove sturdy enough, Swiatek will roll in the rallies, and that's game over. I do expect a close one, but I'm not sure I see a first win though.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in three sets.
