How Djokovic Overcame Wimbledon Loss: Giving Kids Tennis Lessons While Vacationing In Croatia

Less than a week after his Wimbledon final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz, World No. 2 Novak Djokovic sailed to the Croatian beaches to break free from the monotony of competition.

Djokovic spent his summer vacation in the Adriatic Sea with his family where he was first spotted in his yacht named after his daughter Tara, chilling in Dubrovnik - a prominent tourist destination in Croatia famed for its beaches and stunning architecture.

The Serbian star was then pictured in Korcula, a popular Island in the Adriatic where Djokovic shared a get-together moment with some kids on the street and imparted some tennis lessons to them. Pictures showed Djokovic playing in front of a church monument, and using a scenic bench in place of a tennis net.

It was a classy gesture by Djokovic who was seemingly carrying his rackets with him. Djokovic spoke to the media for the first time since his Wimbledon finals defeat and explained how he managed to get over that loss to Alcaraz in five sets.

He admitted to getting over it in a day and needed a fresh start on a clean slate, which was only possible after spending some quality time with his family during the European summer holiday. He delayed his return to action, pulling out from the Toronto Masters well in advance.

But after nearly three weeks out of competition, he resumed training in Montenegro as he geared for his highly anticipated return to the American hard courts for the first time in two years. Djokovic made his return to the Cincinnati Masters where he received raucous applause from the crowd.

Although his first singles match wasn't how he envisaged it to go, benefitted from a retirement by opponent Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He set the record straight in his next outing, easing past Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-2.

Djokovic is currently in the tournament where he is scheduled to play his quarterfinal match on Friday night against American Taylor Fritz.
