Paula Badosa was very honest in her feature for the WTA on World Mental Health day unable to come to terms with the fact that people would hate somebody they did not know.

Badosa has always been quite forthcoming about her difficulties with mental health, and in a recent interview with the WTA, the Spaniard was even more so. She frankly acknowledged that she had struggled with depression and anxiety, which is something that most well-known people would avoid confirming.

Many of her supporters were not aware of her battle with haters, although being well aware of her past issues. In addition to having more fans than ever, she acknowledged that she also has a vocal number of haters:

"I'm dealing with so many new things this year. One of the things that I'm dealing with is that, of course, I love them and I have a lot of fans, but for the first time I feel as well that I have haters."

As a non-hateful person, Badosa struggled with that lot not being able to understand how anybody could be like that.

"That was very tough for me to understand because I couldn't understand why people can hate me without knowing me, you know?" It's still tough for me to see people that, no matter what you do, they're still going to judge you and criticize you, and they're going to hate you. I'm still dealing with that and it's something that's tough to handle." admitted Badosa further in the interview.

She has experienced a year that is far from her best in tennis and will most likely miss the WTA Finals after playing in the finals last year.
