The dream run of Mirra Andreeva at Wimbledon is over and now it's time to decide what to do with the prize money; she has a few ideas.
The story of Mirra Andreeva has been quite a fascinating one. From her sudden breakout at the Madrid Open to her impressive Roland Garros run to this whole Wimbledon experience. It really captivated fans and media and created a proper frenzy around the youngster.
We'll be able to see that in Break Point next year as Andreeva confirmed that she signed up to be part of the show with Wimbledon being the first event shown. It was a great choice by Netflix as she had a really solid run booking the second week in her first appearance at the event.
Unfortunately, everything has to come to an end. Her run at the event also came to an end as she lost to Madison Keys in the 4th round, narrowly missing out on the quarter-final. Going so deeply at the event means that Andreeva earned quite a bit of prize money (£207,000) and she was asked what she plans to do with it.
Still underage, Andreeva confirmed that all of her prize money simply goes to her parents and a good chunk of that ultimately ends up being invested into her tennis career. She did admit that she might buy herself something.
Me, for now, no, I don't have any plans. Everything just goes to my parents and they decide what to do with the money. Yeah, but most of it I think will go to tennis, to the tickets, to pay for the coaches, for everything. Maybe I will buy something to myself, but I'm not sure yet (smiling).
Now it's time to rest up a bit but it won't be a long rest as she confirmed that she'll return in Lausanne. The WTA 250 tournament begins on July 24th.
