Tamara Korpatsch is a German professional tennis player who was born on May 12, 1995, in Hamburg, Germany. Growing up in a keen tennis family, with her father coaching her from the age of 5, as well as her brothers being regular hitting partners for her even now, Tamara’s future was always destined to be linked to the sport.
It wasn’t long before her WTA debut came knocking. It was in 2017, to be precise, at the WTA 250 event in Budapest. She certainly would have left a good impression on fans worldwide, winning in the first round in straight sets.
Despite the odd quarterfinal appearance in the following couple of years, the German found it hard to make a permanent name for herself on the WTA Tour. Two Grand Slam appearances in 2020 later (US Open and French Open), and she was starting to get where she wanted to be.
2022 would have done wonders for her confidence. She would have reached another Grand Slam main draw (Wimbledon) and won her first WTA 125 title at the Budapest Open. This would have set her well and truly on the right path to kick on and continue along the same vein.
The German then used 2023 to the best of her advantage when she grabbed her maiden Grand Slam main draw win at that year’s Wimbledon event before pushing on and winning her first bit of silverware on the WTA Tour.
Whilst outside the world’s Top 100, she claimed the title at the 2023 Transylvania Open in Cluj, defeating home favorite Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the final. As a result, this win took her to new heights, with the German breaking into the world's Top 75.
By 2024, the German could call herself a fully-fledged member of the WTA Tour, competing week in and week out at some of the world’s most prestigious tournaments.
