Marc-Andrea Huesler was born on June 24, 1996, in Zurich, Switzerland, to Jurg and Patricia Huesler. He was introduced to tennis by his parents, who met through the sport. However, Huesler continued to juggle tennis and school until the age of 19, which is rare for those who make it as professionals.

His focus on education until a late age means it is not surprising that Huesler broke through on the ATP Tour later than many other players. By the end of the 2021 season, the Swiss player had only amassed six victories at ATP 250 level and above.

Huesler did have some success on the ATP Challenger Tour during this time. He won three titles at this level. These came on clay at the San Luis Open and Sibiu Open and on carpet at the Wolffkran Open in October 2020.

Huesler had a breakthrough in 2022. In April, he claimed two more Challenger Tour titles on clay. These both came in Mexico at the Mexico City Open and the San Marcos Open. He defeated future Top 30 player Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the final of the Mexico City Open.

In October of that year, Huesler unexpectedly won his maiden ATP Tour title on the hard courts in Sofia. After overcoming qualifier Geoffery Biancaneaux in the opening round, he knocked out the No. 2 seed Pablo Carreno Busta in three sets. Huesler made the semifinal with a tight 6-7, 7-6, 6-3 against Kamil Majchrzak.

The Swiss player defeated Lorenzo Musseti 7-6, 7-5 to set up a final meeting with Holger Rune. Despite being the underdog, Huesler upset the Dane 6-4, 7-6 to reign supreme in Sofia. This achievement was the primary reason for Huesler ending the season ranked No. 56.

This ranking meant Huesler was able to regularly enter ATP Tour tournaments throughout 2023. Unfortunately, he struggled badly throughout that season and ended the year ranked No. 200 in the world.
