Ben Shelton is among those players that love to be on a tennis court, and you'll never see him in a bad mood while competing on the ATP Tour.
He showed off his playful nature many times so far by attempting some pretty crazy shots on the tennis court and quite a few of those hit. There are many highlights worth watching, as the young American is a walking highlight reel.
Besides being really good at tennis, the American loves to joke around as well. He had one of those moments in his most recent match at the Citi Open, where he faked being in agonizing pain after getting hit by a ball.
It was a ball that his opponent Shang kicked in frustration after missing a forehand and Shelton saw it coming toward him and stopped walking so it hit him. It did, and he then faked being in pain twice while laughing, which got his opponent to crack a minor smile as well.
The match ultimately continued, and we saw three sets with the Chinese youngster winning in the end. It was pretty cool to see Shelton in a great mood while on the court, considering that tennis hasn't gone that well recently.
He's only 2-11 in his last 13 ATP matches, which is enough to give any player a bad mood, but Shelton is different. He's enjoying every moment on the tennis court and doing so with a smile. It's very similar to the way Carlos Alcaraz looks on a tennis court, and it's a great thing for tennis.
Seeing players enjoying themselves on the tennis court is a great inspiration for many kids around the world to pick up the racquet. It doesn't hurt that both Alcaraz and Shelton are really good players, basically walking highlights.
