Nick Kyrgios defeated world number 1, Daniil Medvedev in the second round of the ATP 1000 event in Montreal but that's not what's currently important in his life.
Often fans don't see what's happening in the lives of athletes and in a recent interview, Nick Kyrgios highlighted that. He spoke about how difficult it is for him right now as he's not able to be with his family. He also revealed that his mum is in hospital right now and left her a message after his victory in Montreal.
“It’s hard because even traveling now, my mum is in hospital at the moment, my dad hasn’t been very well, my brother just had a baby and I don’t get to be there with my family when normal people would like to be with them,” Kyrgios said.
There’s a lot of things people don’t see. They only see me winning, losing, throwing a racquet, doing those things. They don’t really understand the challenges that I face or what people on tour face, what’s going on in their personal lives.”
After his victory over world number 1, Daniil Medvedev, the 27-years-old Australian used his chance and left a message for his mum which stated: "Be strong ma <3"
