Roger Federer made a return to the Halle Open courts which saw him create plenty of history over the course of many years.
Roger Federer is truly an iconic and legendary player. The list of things he did is very long and the list of players that did something similar is relatively short. Despite not having the most decorated tennis career of all time, Federer is still the GOAT for many players due to his sheer impact on the sport.
No player was ever as popular as Roger Federer and it's hard to imagine that we will ever see a player that is so universally beloved. He's been away from the sport since retiring at last year's Laver Cup but his shadow still looms large over the ATP Tour. The Halle Open saw him create some very iconic tennis moments over the years as he lifted 10 trophies at the event.
It was a staple of his preparation for Wimbledon every year, so much so that he never stopped playing at it. Despite the iconic Queen's Club happening in the same week, Federer was a regular in Halle and in honour of that, the event organized a special day for him. It happened on June 21st with the Swiss Maestro receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.
It's not the last ceremony of this type as he is set to be honoured at the Shanghai Masters later this year as well. It's been a rather busy year for the Swiss ace who did a lot of work with his charity along with several other appearances such as the Met Gala and the Formula One race in Miami.
He'll certainly be present in Vancouver for the Laver Cup to see some of the best take each other on in an event that he came up with. Still as popular as ever, the icon - Roger Federer.
