Federer Admits To Checking Tennis Scores 3 Times A Day After Retirement

by Alfredo Bassanelli

Roger Federer has been away from tennis for a rather short time but the sport is still on his mind as he admitted.

When much of your life revolves around tennis it's tough to let that go overnight completely. Federer has certainly been heavily involved in everything tennis-related for almost two decades and despite hanging up the racquet, the Swiss ace remains as popular as ever.

He's still the face of tennis which a special day in Halle and a special ceremony in Shanghai later this year proves. He's also very involved with the sport yet through his various endeavours, from being an Ambassador for the Laver Cup to his collaboration with the 'On' company which recently signed Iga Swiatek and Ben Shelton to brand deals.

Besides that Federer finds himself keeping tabs on tennis in various ways. For example, he was quite surprised to find himself checking tennis cores daily; even multiple times a day. He revealed it in a recent interview with TennisTV.

I'm very surprised at how often and how frequently I check the scores, three times a day maybe, then of course, all of a sudden there's days where I check out for like a week and then I'm with the kids and then I'm travelling and I'm gone and you forget about everything around yourself but for the most part I'm really into it.

Following the sport doesn't necessarily mean that he watches matches often as doesn't have the time to watch all of them but watching highlights is certainly something that he does. He also praised the new players raising the level of the sport which is at the essence of all of it - the sport evolving.

I think there are some great matches going on. I try to check some highlight reels more than watching games. My life is also a little bit busy but I'm really entirely happy and I think the level of play - I feel like is going up more and more again and again, you know, so it's nice to see that and also the new generation challenging still the likes of Novak, and you know, also Rafa. I hope he comes back.

It's good times in tennis and I always said that tennis is so great in always keep on evolving so big fan of tennis and what all the players doing is absolutely fantastic.
