Carlos Alcaraz is a sensational tennis player capable of doing many things on the court and he proved it against Matteo Berrettini at the 2023 Wimbledon.

You could technically argue that Carlos Alcaraz plays his worst tennis on grass and you would be right. However, his grass tennis is still one of the best in the world and he's proving it at this year's Wimbledon. He recently won his maiden trophy on the surface at the Cinch Championships and is already further in the draw at Wimbledon than last year.

Last year we saw him exit the event in the 4th round after losing to Jannik Sinner but this year he's in the quarter-final. His goal is actually to win Wimbledon as bold as that sounds but he's got every reason to be confident in his tennis.

The win over Berrettini was a superb one, especially since he lost the opening set. He didn't lose his cool though as he kept pushing and playing eventually emerging victorious in four sets. It was a very good match from the Spaniard as he got the job done without too many complications but also because he showed some of his tremendous talent.

One point sticks out particularly and it's an around-the-net shot which is special in itself. What makes it even more special is the fact that he threaded the needle by putting the ball right between the net and the umpire's chair.

It was a sensational highlight but not the only one as he had a few more. You can check out the around-the-net winner at the end of the piece but before that check out what Alcaraz had to say about his performance against the former finalist.

Yeah, I'm really, really happy to get through this amazing match. I'm really happy to be able to play my first quarterfinal here in Wimbledon. Really excited about it. Let's keep rolling.  I think he played well. I am going to say that I'm really, really happy to see him in those rounds, playing that level.

I know that he was struggling a lot this year. I think he has work really hard to come back at his level. I think himself and his team, well, they are doing a great work to recovering his level little by little, step by step.
