Stefanos Tsitsipas finally got a chance to play a tennis match in Miami after his round two match against Gasquet ended with a walkover.

Tsitsipas has spent over a week in Miami waiting to finally play a match and it came against Garin in a round 3 matchup of the Miami Open. As a high seed, he had a 1st round BYE and then he had a match with Gasquet which ended in a walkover and then he finally played one. It was a 3-set match with Tsitsipas barely pulling out a win in 3 sets.

I was waiting for a very long time to get out and play. It has almost felt like a vacation this past week, staying in Miami. I glad I got started. It was a difficult match against an opponent who has played good tennis against good opponents in the past.

It wasn't a perfect match but it didn't need to be. Tsitsipas took to the courts to win the match and give himself a chance to contest another one which he did.

I am happy with the way things turned around and my confidence towards the end. I had an eye-on-the-prize attitude and it was effective with how I played in the last game when he was serving.

Due to the circumstances, the win is important for Tsitsipas because the shoulder injury kept his spirits quite low in the past few weeks. He's going to enjoy this win as things are finally trending to warmer waters.

I am just going to enjoy this victory. It has been a difficult road to healing in the past few weeks, but I am happy that things are getting better.

Up next for the Greek is Karen Khachanov whom he bested a couple of times in his career so far. The last time was at the Australian Open this year.
