Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev have had a rivalry going for a few years now but it's only now that people are starting to notice.

Tsitsipas and Medvedev don't like each other very much and it started a few years ago when they exchanged words on a tennis court. Since then they played several matches on the ATP Tour with both ending up as victors but the rivalry itself became the main talking point.

It's a great one because there is a certain dose of pettiness involved which makes it quite entertaining to watch as a fan. Their recent Rome clash certainly delivered on the entertainment front. First, they skipped over the customary photo.

After that, we saw Tsitsipas kick his mother out of his box after she gave him tips in Russian which Medvedev happens to speak fluently. And finally, we saw Medvedev dance after the last point to celebrate his win over Tsitsipas. The dance wasn't a mistake, it was a response to Tsitsipas doing the same last year when he defeated Medvedev.

Tsitsipas hasn't responded to the dance since it happened but he addressed when asked about the ever-growing rivalry between the players. As expected Tsitsipas didn't admit to feeling annoyed by it, he actually called it 'fun'.

Well, if it's meant to be this way, I guess there is a dance after every one of them, I guess. No, it was fun. I wasn't mad or upset or anything regarding that. I did the same a few months ago, so...

Meanwhile Tsitsipas played his first match at the 2023 Roland Garros and it proved a stern test against Czech player Jiri Vesely. He dropped one set but managed to avoid having to play a decider by outlasting the big-serving Czech in the final set tiebreaker. He will face Carballes Baena in the next round.
