'Stars Have To Allign': Kyrgios Gives Verdict On His Comeback After Injury

by Sebastian Dahlman

The Tennis Channel hired Nick Kyrgios for ATP Finals commentary, and he provided some insight into what he's been up to in recent months.

Kyrgios hasn't played since the Stuttgart Open due to the various injuries he battled last year. Of course, the knee injury is the main one, one that seemingly was still present by the time he made a comeback in Stuttgart.

That match looked very sad because it was clear that he wasn't ready to play, and he hadn't since then. We don't know what is happening, but some of the words coming out of Australia are not really good.

Kyrgios talked about injuries and comeback to the Tennis Channel as he's doing commentary for them during the 2023 ATP Finals, noting that his comeback will depend on the 'stars aligning.'

The stars have to align a little bit. And with Zverev, he's an incredibly hard worker. That's his reputation. He ticks all the boxes and, if someone like that can come back from an injury like that, I think that's what I have to draw inspiration from for sure.

Speaking further on the Tennis Channel, Kyrgios confirmed that he is indeed trying to do everything in his power to be back out there as soon as possible. Last year was amazing for him, and it left him really hungry for more.

After last year, I had such a great year and I'm so hungry to get back out there. So I'm doing everything I can to get back out there. Obviously, you know how injuries are every day, just doing the rehab, doing the gym work. But to be here and being able to watch the match we're about to watch (between Zverev and Daniil Medvedev) makes me more hungry to get out there.
