WATCH: 'Hit My Own Ball': Zverev Laughs Off Hilarious Tweener Attempt At ATP Finals

Alexander Zverev laughed off a tweener attempt in his match against Daniil Medvedev at the 2023 ATP Finals, addressing it after the match.

Zverev and Medvedev played a very interesting match at the ATP Finals, though it didn't go the distance. Medvedev looked really sharp to start, after which Zverev briefly took, and then we got both being great. The first set finished with Zverev throwing away a 4-1 lead in the tie-break to lose it.

Medvedev then established control in the second set to finish it off. It was a decent effort from Zverev, who was quite engaged during the match. We saw a plethora of emotions from him, from despair and frustration to smiles all over.

One of the situations that made him laugh was a tweener attempt, which didn't work. It actually backfired greatly, according to Zverev.

I mean, in this kind of match, yeah, there are a lot of emotions. I mean, I tried to hit a tweener and hit my own ball. That's the reason I was smiling there (smiling).

Zverev details tweener attempt

While the tweener might have failed, his chances of getting through to the semi-finals are not yet dead. He needs a few things to happen in order to find himself in the semi-final, and it wouldn't be undeserving. He's actually playing pretty well in Turin, which is not a surprise.

It's the type of event that highlights his strengths pretty well, but Medvedev found a way to overcome that. The next match for Zverev is against good friend Andrey Rublev, who is already out of the event. He'll hope to win that match and then also hope that Medvedev beats Alcaraz once more.

Those matches will be played tomorrow, and hopefully, we won't see Zverev hitting himself again. Check out the tweener attempt that got everybody smiling.
